El Refugio's 2024 Family Camp from May 17-19
for a weekend away together as a family to have fun, learn, grow, and spend intentional - quality time together… "away from it all”!
We know that in the midst of the busyness of life that it is hard to take time to slow down and connect as a family. We invite you to come, rest, worship, and play together.
Throughout the weekend there will be activities for the whole family to enjoy together both indoors and outdoors - as well as activities for specific age groups at certain times. We will utilize all the resources that El Refugio has to offer including our climbing wall, high and low ropes course, time to rest in nature, indoor workshops to help you learn and grow together, in addition to times of worship.
Everything we have planned is all geared towards helping your family grow spiritually, into a deeper relationship with Christ through nature and outdoor adventure, as well as letting you get away together, pause, and re-connect. There will also be a special focus on the dynamics and challenges that Third-Culture living brings.
Meet the Speakers
John and Emily Darnell lived in Ecuador as missionaries for 5 years. Today John is the CEO of Global Outreach International, an international nonprofit. He is an accomplished leader and developer of people who is passionate about seeing believers fulfill the purpose God has for them.
Emily is the Director of Missionary Care for Third Culture Kids at Global Outreach International. She is passionate about encouraging, supporting, and advocating for third culture kids so that they will have a thriving walk with Christ. Emily has created an intentional curriculum to minister to cross-culture kids reminding them that their identity and value is in Christ.
John and Emily were public school teachers before moving to Ecuador as missionaries. They each have master’s degrees in Curriculum and Instruction which has helped them create missionary training programs for the entire family. In their spare time, they (along with their two daughter) run a farm in North Mississippi.
